Say your SiriusXM promo ends and the plan renews on the 15th, and you’ve decided you don’t want to pay the full rate after that. The tempting plan is to wait and cancel on the evening of the 14th, so you keep every discounted day you already paid for. (The 15th is an example, not a date from anyone’s account.)
SiriusXM’s terms make that wait pointless. A cancellation only stops future charges and takes effect at the end of your current billing period, so canceling three weeks early doesn’t cut the promo short. Waiting only adds risk, because SiriusXM says you must cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date, and a cancellation on the last evening can land inside that window.
Miss it and the plan renews automatically. The card on file is charged the full rate in effect on the renewal date, not the promo price. On SiriusXM’s plan pages, checked October 16, 2026, that full monthly rate before tax is $11.99 for All Music, $25.99 for All Access and $31.99 for Platinum. SiriusXM says the U.S. Music Royalty Fee is already included in those prices, so tax is the part added on top.
The amount and date that apply to you are in SiriusXM’s Online Account Center, and that number outranks any table, including the one below.
This covers paid promotional plans billed directly by SiriusXM in the U.S., with a payment method on file. A free trial that came with a vehicle doesn’t renew on its own, and a subscription billed by Apple, Google Play, Roku or T-Mobile is managed with that company.

Your Renewal Date, Billing Term and Next Charge Are in Your Account
SiriusXM’s help pages point to the Online Account Center for all of this. If you’ve never signed in, you register with your Radio ID or account number. Then note:
- Plan name. The help page says to go to the Subscriptions tab and locate the radio and plan.
- Renewal date. For a subscription bought directly from SiriusXM, the help page says to log in and look for your active subscriptions.
- Amount of the next charge. SiriusXM says to look for Billing Status under the Home tab, and that billing information shows in your account only within 60 days of your next billing date.
- Billing term. SiriusXM’s Customer Agreement says a paid plan renews for periods of the same length, whether monthly, quarterly or annual, or for another length described in the offer. The term decides which refund rule applies if the charge has already gone through.
If the term or the amount isn’t listed, ask SiriusXM by chat or phone. You could paste something like this into the chat:
My promotional rate on [radio / plan name] is ending. What is my renewal date, is the plan billed monthly or for a longer term, and what will the next charge be before tax?
SiriusXM says renewal notices go to the email address on your account. Make sure that address is current, but don’t rely on the email to tell you the date.
What Each Current Plan Renews At, per Month
With your plan name in hand, find your row. These are monthly-billing rates only.
| Plan | Full monthly rate |
|---|---|
| All Music | $11.99 |
| All Music add-ons (sold only with All Music) | Sports +$8 News +$5 Talk +$5 |
| Music Showcase | $18.99 |
| News, Sports & Talk | $14.99 |
| All Access | $25.99 |
| Music & Entertainment | $25.99 |
| Platinum | $31.99 |
| All Access (App Only) | $11.99 |
Family Friendly versions are listed at $24.99 for All Access and Music & Entertainment, and $29.99 for Platinum.
As an example at the rates on SiriusXM’s plan page on October 16, 2026, All Music with the Sports add-on is $11.99 + $8 = $19.99 a month before tax.
Don’t add the royalty fee on top. SiriusXM’s U.S. Music Royalty Fee page says the fee is included in the advertised prices. It puts the fee at 19.98% of the subscription price of satellite plans that include music channels, as of February 24, 2026, and 8.8% of the subscription price for streaming plans, as of August 22, 2018; plans without music channels aren’t charged it. According to SiriusXM’s fee chart, $2.00 of the full $11.99 All Music rate and $4.33 of the full $25.99 All Access rate is the royalty fee.
What does get added is tax, which SiriusXM says varies with the address on your account.
These rates aren’t fixed. SiriusXM’s full rates last changed on February 24, 2026, and the rate that counts is the one in effect on your renewal date. If your plan name isn’t in the table, your plan bills for a term longer than a month, or you have more than one radio or a discount, the amount in your account or notice is the number to use.
Keep It, Switch Plans or Cancel, Weeks Ahead Rather Than the Night Before
Once you know your date and your rate, there are three choices: keep the plan at the full rate, switch to a different plan, or cancel. SiriusXM’s cutoff for canceling is at least 24 hours before the renewal date, and I’d use the same date as the deadline for a plan change.
Canceling
SiriusXM’s Customer Agreement says you must cancel at least 24 hours before your upcoming renewal date to avoid being renewed and charged for a new period. Because a cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, the promo you’ve paid for keeps running until then. Selling or trading in the vehicle, uninstalling the app or simply not listening doesn’t cancel the subscription.
Switching to another plan
SiriusXM’s help page says to go to the Subscriptions tab, find the radio and plan, and choose Manage. A plan change takes effect at the end of the current period, except for an upgrade to a higher service level, where SiriusXM can charge the difference. Not every radio supports every plan, so the account shows the plans available for yours; check the amount shown before you confirm the order.
Where to do it
For a subscription SiriusXM bills directly:
- Online: SiriusXM’s manage or cancel help page lists the Subscriptions tab in the Online Account Center. If no cancel option appears there for your plan, use chat or phone.
- Chat: through SiriusXM’s Contact Us page, listed as available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Phone: 1-866-635-2349, the number in SiriusXM’s Customer Agreement, listed as 8 am to 8 pm ET every day as of October 16, 2026. Current hours are on the Contact Us page.
If Apple, Google Play, Roku or T-Mobile bills you, you manage and cancel with that company instead. SiriusXM’s help page suggests checking your bank or credit card statement if you aren’t sure who bills you.
SiriusXM’s agreement treats any discount it gives as discretionary, so don’t build your decision around getting one.
Already Charged the Full Rate? It Depends on How the Plan Bills
Go back to the billing term you noted. SiriusXM’s Customer Agreement says no refunds or credits are given for a partial period except as it provides or as required by law, and what it provides differs by term:
- Monthly billing: the renewal charge isn’t refundable. Canceling now stops the next charge, and service runs to the end of the month you’ve paid for.
- Billing longer than a month, such as quarterly or annual: if you cancel within 30 days of the renewal charge, service ends immediately and the fees paid for that period are eligible for a pro-rata refund, if you request it.
That refund isn’t automatic, so ask for it when you cancel by chat or phone. And if the charge came after you had already canceled, that’s a different problem; the steps for it are in how to ask for a refund, dispute a charge after canceling, and stop the next one.
What I’d Do This Week Instead of on Renewal Day
I’d sign in now and write down four things: the plan name, the renewal date, the billing term and the next charge, asking by chat for whatever isn’t shown. Then I’d find the plan in the table, remembering that the royalty fee is already inside that rate and tax is extra, and that my account’s figure is the final one.
If the full rate is fine, there’s nothing to do. If it isn’t, I’d switch or cancel the same day rather than holding out for the last evening, since the promo runs to the end of the period either way and the cutoff is at least 24 hours before renewal. If the charge has already gone through, the billing term tells me whether a pro-rata refund is on the table.
The same intro-then-regular-rate pattern shows up on prepaid phone plans, where the renewal choice also includes how many months to pay for at once; see what each Mint Mobile plan costs to renew after the intro period.
To confirm the current terms, see SiriusXM’s plans page and its Customer Agreement, along with the royalty fee and manage or cancel pages linked above.
